The 2 Tables are JOINED. The desired datafields selected and Casts, Expressions & other functions applied as appropriate.
A datasource is made on the Query. The datasource is like a 'mirror' of the Query and is now a floating layer of data -- accessible by Charts, Templates, Applications, etc.
An Action is created automatically that links the Query to the Datasource.
The XML for your Template is stored safely in your account. The Template loads the XML when launched.
Click the pdf icon. The XML is Saved - and pulls the datasource, merging it into the static template XML. The PDF is then processed on the server.

Developing a Rudimentary Benefit Statement: a Personalized PDF for Print
Even a simple Benefit Statement will typically have 1 or 2 images needed on the Template.
Most HR Departments have little 'knowledge' of image formats - but there are significant differences.
NO GOOD = an image buried in a Word doc (BMP). Please don't even try. Instead, use a JPG - or - a PNG - or a GIF. In addition, images come in different pixels per inch. A web image (96 dpi) will be jaggie when printed. Print should be 300 dpi or more.
Part 6 (Upload Images)
STEP 1
You will be viewing an Image (a logo) we created offline - and then imported into the Account. Note: Marketing departments tend to be pretty fussy about the appearance of and placement of company Logo - so you should check with them 1st. Tell them you need JPG, GIF or PNG witha 96 dpi and 300 dpi of each. You will also need to give them the final size. Contact us if you get stuck.
Pulling it all together (Back to Template)
Click Images on the YTree and you will see a 'list' of only 1 image (see left). Instead - we will show you what we see from within our account, which is used for creating and maintaining this website. Remember - The HR Collaboratve Suite does much more than just create PDFs. This account has > 400 images. Some other online accounts using the HR CS have > 2,000.
STEP 2
See above -- we clicked New Image, then selected an image from our desktop to upload.
to add a new image
click to select from desktop
Make available for the web
Should be 'Yes' for a pdf - along with an alt image
Make a zip file (archive) of many images on your desktop -- then upload all at once. Better than 1 X 1.
After click - it will appear
STEP 3
You have all your 'assets'. Time to revisit the Template.
